Trekking on Ethiopia's Abune Yosef Mountain near Lalibela

Abune Yosef Mountain is found near the town of Lalibela, which offers a great overlook on the town. It has elevation of about 4000m above sea level and the popular Asheton Maryam monastery is located on this mountain. Tourists trek on the Abune Yosef mountain to see the monastery and often use mule. But for walking it is only two hours distance from the town of Lalibela. The monastery has ancient and fascinating crosses among others. Also, the demanding trek up the mountain is often rewarded by sight of Ethiopian Wolves, Gelada Baboon and Alpine vegetation.

Whitewater Rafting on Omo River

Omo river is the biggest navigable river that flows on a relatively flat river bed most of its course. Omo river starts from mountain ranges that are located near the South-western parts of Addis Ababa and travels about 1100 km to Lake Turkana along the Ethio-Kenyan border. Along the way, Omo river travels across various ecological zones of the South-Western Ethiopia including alpine zone, rain forest, open savanna and at the end desert. Rafting on Blue Nile River

Blue Nile or Abay river is one of the biggest rivers that originate from Ethiopia. By joining white Nile at Khartoum Sudan, the Blue Nile make an epic journey all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.
